Scheduling Sports

Scheduling Sports is a breeze with The Traffic C.O.P. There are a few basic rules to follow, and everything flows seamlessly.

The Traffic C.O.P. gives you the ability to set up 26 different clocks, one for each day of the week for a total of 182. Plus overlay hours, to handle the really different situation.

  •
  • Before the season, you will have some idea of the starting hours of the games. Let's use basketball as an example.

Set up a special set of clocks "B" or any other letter of the alphabet. Use a letter that you will remember. It could be "B" for basketball or "H" for the Clearwater Hoops.

Copy your "A" clocks into "B". Then make the necessary modifications based on the starting times of the games. At the beginning we will assume that all games start at 7PM.

Other traffic systems may require you to store your special clocks on floppy disks. With The Traffic C.O.P. it is always on your hard disk. You may misplace a floppy disk, but you would hardly misplace your whole computer. In fact, once you put the clock letter for that day into the clock grid, you don't ever have to think about it again. Everything becomes automatic.

    1.
    2. Set up a program for the Basketball game. Note the checkbox "Sports".
    3.
    4. Set up each order. Note the check box "Sports" on the first screen of the order program. Further, on the "Time Schedule" screens, check "Program" and select the specific program that you have created for the basketball game.

Write the schedule for every conceivable day that there could be a basketball game. This just takes one flight line. Make the from/to time 12A-12X. Don’t worry about scheduling it outside of the game, The Traffic C.O.P. knows to only schedule the spots during the game. Don't worry about cluttering up your avails. The program takes care of it. Don't worry about scheduling spots on days when there is no game (even if you have ordered it). The program will only schedule spots when there is a game.

What do I do if on one day the game starts at 7:30?

  • This is what the overlay clocks are for. Go into the overlay clock function and make a new clock line for the 7PM hour only, and only for that special day.

That's all there is to it. If there is no game that day, the spots will get skipped and there will be no makegoods attempted.

  •  And because there is a special section on your avails report for programs, the avails report gives you full information on how many spots you have sold … and to whom, and how many spots you have remaining for each and every game.

If you are unclear as to how to set up any particular sports game, give us a call. We are here to help you get started and understand the software.
