Wheels and The Traffic C.O.P.

"Wheels" and The Traffic C.O.P.

Wheels can be defined as ROS spots that are placed strategically with Newscasts, Weather Reports, Sports Reports, Traffic Reports, etc. Therefore, you may sell your client newscast sponsorships from 6A to 8P Mon - Fri.

You may wish to take this a bit further, and define special wheels. You could lump Newscasts, Sports, and Financial Reports as one wheel, Traffic Reports and Weather Reports as another wheel. The possibilities are endless.

The Traffic C.O.P. calls all of these reports, or "wheel items", Features.

Under Edit, Station Profile, you will find a menu item called Features. Here is where you can identify up to 60 features. Call them what you will - Network News, Local News, Sports Report, Weather, etc. If you have special combination "wheel" rotations, you can give each a name here.

Then in each stopset where you air this feature, in the adjacent commercial avail, under the heading Feature, select the appropriate feature name.

Finally, when you create the order, in the Time Schedule, click on Feature and select the matching feature name. You can make the time window the from - to time (6A to 8P) as in the example above.

One additional bit of customization that you need to take into consideration. If these wheels are exclusive (that is, only those people who have bought the wheels) then click "Sponsored" on the stopset and choose sponsored in the combo box just under the feature name. That way, only the orders marked for those wheels will be scheduled in the spots. Otherwise, they will be left blank. If you do not click "Sponsored" on the stopset, then DO NOT select sponsored in the order.

That's all there is to it.

Your spots will automatically rotate evenly throughout the day and automatically schedule themselves only in the avails that have been pre-designated for that feature.

Remember that the features belong to the spots, not the actual feature themselves. The spots get scheduled in the commercial spaces - these have to be marked with the feature names.

If you are unclear as to how to set up any particular feature or wheel, give us a call. We are here to help you get started and understand the software.
